Back to Netball
Running since 2009, Back to Netball has engaged over 60,000 participants. The aim of the programme is to provide a gentle re-introduction to netball for people who have played in the past and want to re-engage with a sport they love.
Women who have taken part in Back to Netball have realised the benefits of getting involved. From losing weight, developing the body’s cardiovascular system and improving muscle tone, taking part in Back to Netball is great for you in so many ways and it also provides an opportunity to meet new people in your area.
Back to Netball sessions are running across England and provide women of all ages with a gentle re-introduction to the sport. The sessions at the Darwin Leisure Centre are run by a passionate and enthusiastic coach and cover the basics of the game including passing, footwork, defending and shooting; at the end of session players will participate in a friendly game to put the skills learnt into practice.
We have hosted friendly back to netball tournaments, including a mixed tournament and have taken part in netball tournaments in Bournemouth, Bognor, Skegness, locally in Bromley and venturing overseas to Spain. Once players feel confident and ready to move on, they will have the opportunity to contact local clubs with a view to playing league netball, or join one of the Back to Netball teams already playing in local domestic leagues.
Training sessions take place on Thursday evenings. During the winter (October to after Easter) the sessions are indoors from 6:30pm to 7:30pm and during the summer (April to September) we move outdoors from 6:30 – 8pm.
New ladies are always welcome and age is not restricted. Please email: leisurecentre@cdarwin.com for more information.
